The impressive Detroit Tigers and the Boston AL Red Sox locked up in anexciting one-run game at Briggs Stadium. The final score was the impressiveDetroit Tigers 2, the Boston AL Red Sox 1 in 10 innings. The score was tied at 1 after nine. Finally, Detroit pulled the game out inthe 10th inning. Gus Niarhos lined a single. Don Kolloway came next and hedoubled. Les Fleming then drew a walk to load the bases. Eddie Lake steppedin and he reached on an error resulting in an exciting win for Detroit and araucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. Detroit had 8 hits forthe night. Sid Hudson(8-3) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.The loss was charged to Tom Ferrick(4-2) in relief. He allowed 2 hits and 2walks in 1 inning.
